Vintage Cees Braakman SB02 Chair

Part of his iconic Birch Series, this vintage SB02 Chair was designed by Cees Braakman and manufactured by UMS Pastoe, circa 1960s. Inspired by the use of plywood to create functional yet aesthetically pleasing furniture, this chair was crafted with a teakwood seat and Birchwood frame and features the balance of curves and slim proportions that is a signature of mid-century designs by the likes of Charles and Ray Eames as well as other great designers of the period.

Renown for his designs during the Dutch mid-century modernist movement, Cees Braakman was the head designer for UMS Pastoe and the driving force behind the brand's main pieces. His work was heavily influenced by experimentation with molded plywood and fiberglass-reinforced plastic.
