Displaying a luxurious and elegant marbled body, the Onyx Box is a handmade, polished, one-of-a-kind vessel with a raw edge stone rim. Features sharp clean lines and an elegantly smooth body that was crafted with onyx formed one million years ago from water percolating in the cracks, crevices, and caverns of Mexico. Hand-carved from a single piece of onyx by skilled artists to reveal its inherent characteristics.
Each piece is unique and color/textural variations are to be expected. These are not defects but part of the inherent natural beauty of the pieces.
Carefully mined in Mexico, this collection is made of natural onyx – a mineral that is lightly translucence and has qualities of a gemstone. Wavy coloured bands of amber, ivory and white are fused in the rock's fluid pattern. When backlit, onyx radiates a soft, ethereal light. Onyx is made of calcite - the same mineral that makes up limestone, marble, and travertine.
